The Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso is a 2+2 coupe concept revealed at the Paris Motor Show on 12 October 2026. Conceived by Centro Stile in Turin, it is 4,700 mm long, has a drag coefficient of 0.28 and imagines a 2.9 V6 full-hybrid with Q4 all-wheel drive. Alfa Romeo calls it a design manifesto, not a production car.

What is the Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso?

Cuorerosso means “red heart” in Italian, and Alfa Romeo wants you to read the car exactly that way. It was announced in mid-September as a manifesto for the brand’s future and revealed on the Alfa Romeo stand in Paris.

The official position is clear. In its world premiere press release, Alfa Romeo says Cuorerosso is neither a preview of a production model nor a simple styling exercise. It is meant to inspire future models across key segments, with cars up to 4.7 metres long and room for Quadrifoglio versions. CEO Santo Ficili described it as a car designed “for those who love to drive”, which is the sentence every Alfista wanted to hear in 2026.

What engine does the Cuorerosso have?

Officially, none is confirmed. Alfa Romeo says the top performance version can be imagined with a 2.9 V6 full-hybrid, Q4 all-wheel drive, a torque converter gearbox and a carbon fibre driveshaft. No outputs were given, and the release describes a multi-energy approach that runs from full electric to full hybrid.

For anyone who followed our piece on the future of the Alfa Romeo V6, that is the headline. Cuorerosso is the first official Alfa in a long time to put a 2.9 V6 hybrid in writing, even if only as a concept idea.

The design: scudetto, Coda Tronca and a beating heart

The shape is built on a wedge line that runs from nose to tail and ends in a Coda Tronca, the cut-off tail, which carries two circular lights. At the front the Trilobo layout frames a central scudetto, and that shield shape is stretched back along the bonnet like the wake of a boat.

The grille is made of small backlit triangles that pulse like a heart, which is where the name comes alive. The rear window is scudetto shaped and the door handles are gone. For the story of how the shield got here, our Alfa Romeo badge history covers it decade by decade.

Inside, the dashboard takes inspiration from the 1967 33 Stradale and its modern successor, which we explored in the story behind the new 33 Stradale. The instrument display, called Cannocchiale Vivente, merges into a single element as the drive gets more engaged, the steering is by wire and the drive modes are Cruise, Sport and Quadrifoglio. Materials include Poltrona Frau nubuck and a fabric developed with Luna Rossa.

Our take: this is the first Alfa concept in years that looks forward without leaning on retro props, and the clean surfaces show it was sculpted as one solid block.

Is the Cuorerosso the next Alfa Romeo Giulia?

No, and Alfa Romeo is unusually direct about it. Speaking to Quattroruote, as reported by Carscoops, Ficili said the first model to use the Cuorerosso look will be a C-SUV in early 2028, sitting at the top of the C-SUV class and reaching into the entry D-SUV segment. It replaces the Tonale, which is expected to end production by the end of 2027, and Stellantis has confirmed it will use the STLA Medium platform with hybrid and electric options.

A compact model with the internal name Giulietta follows, neither an SUV nor a traditional hatchback, with timing still open. The Junior stays as the entry model.

The current Giulia and Stelvio will be built until the end of 2027, and the earlier fully electric plan for their successors has been dropped. On 31 October, ClubAlfa reported that Ficili is still weighing a hybrid for the current pair, and that Cuorerosso used an extended Giorgio architecture as its technical reference. Alfa Romeo has not confirmed the platform detail, so treat it as unconfirmed.

What does Cuorerosso mean for Giulia and Stelvio owners?

If you own a Giulia or Stelvio, especially a Quadrifoglio, smile: the release openly talks about future Quadrifoglio versions, and with no direct successor announced, today’s cars stay the last of their line for a while. More on that in our piece on the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio revival.

The less comfortable truth is that the first car to wear this face is an SUV, while the coupe or saloon Alfisti really want is still only a concept. The honest message from Paris is: this is the look, and the products will follow.

Frequently asked questions

What does Cuorerosso mean?

It means “red heart” in Italian. Alfa Romeo carries the idea into the design through a grille of backlit triangles that pulse like a heartbeat.

Will the Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso go into production?

Not as shown. Alfa Romeo calls it a manifesto that will inspire future models, not a preview of a specific production car.

When will the first Cuorerosso-inspired Alfa Romeo arrive?

Santo Ficili told Quattroruote that a C-SUV replacing the Tonale is due in early 2028, with a compact model called Giulietta internally to follow.

Does the Cuorerosso have a V6?

Alfa Romeo says its top performance version can be imagined with a 2.9 V6 full-hybrid and Q4 all-wheel drive. No power figures were released and nothing is confirmed for production.

Cuorerosso is the most confident thing Alfa Romeo has shown in years. What it does not give us yet is a date for a new Giulia, and that is the promise worth holding the brand to.
